Currently, Claire pursues teaching in multiple locations across DFW, Co-Director of the Book of Hours International Portfolio Exchange, and continues her practice at Brookhaven Windmill Press in Addison Texas.
Claire has won awards for her creative writing and academic written research as well as exhibited works internationally and nationally in Japan and Washington D.C. ARTIST STATEMENT
Art, like most things, starts with an observation.
For as long as I have been creating, I have been perfecting the art of watching. Watching is more than just looking; Watching comes with the idea that you are searching for something; with faith, something more is there, that something needs to be found and spoken about. Printmaking and its sparkling multiplicity is the structure on which that faith grows and takes root.
My work, seen through the quiet breathing silky veils of lithography, variable harmony of monotype, and bitten line of intaglio with my knowledge of craft, is a study of place among the complex and ever-changing physical, social, and internal labyrinths that surround us told through the body, childhood, nature, and historical objects.
Through a greater process of weaving a physical tapestry of interconnected stories both mine and others, I have had the privilege to know and hold dear precious things that through a process of loving, collecting, cataloging, and archiving have found me on the brightest day and surrounded by the land of the living.
My work in the form of print, artists' books, and writing serves as an open letter to a time spent watching and a desire to show you my glimmering curio cabinet of precious keepsake secrets without having to confess.
For once they were not mine, and then they were mine, and now they are no longer mine alone.

Printmaking Association of North Texas Students (PANTS) Alumni
An organization near and dear to my heart that played a significant role in my journey as a printmaker and can be credited to my introduction to the printmaking community was the Printmaking Association of North Texas Students, loving known as PANTS.
I joined PANTS in the fall of 2019 allured by very cool individuals and awesome on-campus art sales but was convinced to stay by an unmatched work ethic, learning opportunities, and community. A completely student-run organization founded in 2004 and celebrating 20 years this year, PANTS offers membership to anyone interested in printmaking at UNT. PANTS is extremely active on campus and hosts multiple visiting artist events, workshops, artist talks, on-campus sales, volunteering opportunities, exhibitions, conference trips, and portfolio exchanges throughout the year. PANTS is governed by an officer board that I was privileged to be a part of for my last semester at UNT as secretary and street team officer as well as leading multiple topic-related workshops on gallery installation, monotype and digital fabrication in printmaking.
From the first screenprint pull I ever made under the eye of watchful experienced printers, late nights going over posters and inventory, navigating a pandemic, and getting travel and table at PrintAustin. I wouldn't be the printmaker I am today without PANTS and am proud to be one of many alumni of this fabulous organization.
