OBSCURA: Anthologies
Of Things
Lost and
Found
UNT Union Gallery
11/21/22 - 1/19/23
Wandering the stacks of a warm familiar library filled with discoveries yet to be made and things all too familiar we just can't place. Obscura: Anthology of Things Lost and Found is the opening of a curio cabinet containing wondrous and mysterious things from a past beyond time that feels small, precious, and quietly somehow meant for you and only you to find.
This body of work, sourced from the culmination of a senior year, on the printed page and the vessel ask the viewer to encounter things both precious and clandestine, fleeting and archived, past and universally present.
Walking into the gallery we encounter two sides of the same coin. The face contains the weathered and distressed historical in variable series with their value and intricacies more clearly admired in their multitude. After walking through the past, one would reach the intimate tail littered with the bright and colorful discarded things from the everyday. Both sides are objects you might find only once, but through print and craft can be experienced in multitudes.
We cling to objects to ground our memory in time and place ever since we reached for the first cup to hold drink, a blanket for warmth, and a bowl to hold fruits to eat Through the layering of a living archive, this exhibition invites you to create an intimate space to walk a labyrinth of interwoven stories, histories, and secrets to experience a fleeting moment of finding and belonging.

Tulip Feilds: BFA Printmaking Seniors Exhibition
UNT Union Gallery
4/22- 5/22
The BFA senior printmaking spring exhibition, Tulip Fields, conceptualizes the beauty of printmaking beyond process and opens the viewer to a gallery of work evoking memories of childhood, flowers on the kitchen table, and the feeling of delighted discovery and a sense of belonging.
The tulips’ soft petals mirror the multitudes, materials, and colorful images on our paper and speak to the delicate and ephemeral nature of the prints as well as the artistic and emotional experience of making during our years of college. Our works come together as one field and ask the viewer to see not just images on the page - individually beautiful in their own right - but appreciate the field as it is a place of community, tending, growth, and dynamic work.
